Man, have I been busy or what?! Sorry for not updating you like I was supposed to last month but the parents have kept me super busy here lately with so many activities and fun things to do. Plus, I have gotten my 2 bottom teeth and we all know how much work that takes, right?

Christmas came and it was a lot of fun tearing into gifts and eating tissue and wrapping paper. I would get kinda upset every time Mom would take a piece away from my mouth because I was more concerned about it than the toy/book/clothing that was in it, but I recovered. I have had so many good times already playing with and wearing all my new things everyone got me. I sure am loved by some pretty special folks!

Next on the agenda was the youth winter trip! We had a great time together on that trip in Woodland, GA! Mom and I skipped the Six Flags part of the trip though. They say I’m too little to ride and Mom’s heart and blood pressure cannot handle the rides anymore. So we came home a few hours earlier than everyone else. Dad made it back in time to give Mom a New Year’s kiss, though! As for me…I rang in the new year by sleeping. 🙂

The whole month of January is kind of a blur! Lots of church activities going on and it has only gotten busier since then. As far as the church nursery though, I give all the ladies a hard time on Sunday mornings. I somewhat refuse to nap for them and scream and cry instead. Mom has had to come put me to sleep for them a couple of times or just take me with her wherever she goes. You could say I am attached to her or a Momma’s boy, but she doesn’t mind one little bit. 🙂

Mom and Dad usually keep me in the service each Sunday through the music and then take me to the nursery. I love listening to the music and looking around at everyone. They all say I’m very curious and attentive and I guess those are good things. In the weeks and months to come, I will hopefully stay in the service longer and longer to hear Bro. John preach the good Word! The only reason I don’t stay in longer right now is because I like to “help” Bro. John preach. 😉

February has been a good month for me too! I just got back from Disney World this week and I had a blast! I will have to tell you all about it in my next update, though. The week has been the best week ever, basically. It is very unlikely I will ever get a repeat of this week. We came home from Disney World and the next day it snowed about 8 inches! I laughed the whole time we were outside because the snow kept getting me in the face while it was falling!

Dad and Mom bought me a new carseat and it has been a lot better riding places with them thus far. I can see out the window and out the back glass of the car now. It makes riding more enjoyable as I can see where we are going and I’m not trying to sit up the whole time because I’m already sitting up! The ride to Disney was a lot better than anticipated, but says it is because she praying during my MOTN feedings for me to ride better. 🙂

Some things I am doing now: scooting on my belly in circles and backwards, grabbing all things, sitting up for longer periods of time, and making jungle noises. It sounds like I say “bye-bye” these days, but I don’t think I can claim it as word just yet. My favorite sounds to make are “ba”, “ah”, and squeals!

Things I love: playing with Daddy and Mommy, reading books, playing in the tub, rolling away from Mom and Dad as they try to change my diaper or dress me, watching Toy Story 3 in the car, jumping in my exersaucer, and being in the walker.

Hopefully next month’s update won’t be quite as late, but it is another busy month for us Mathii. 🙂

P.S.- If you want to keep up with me more often, I have an Instagram account with the username: cammathis.

P.P.S- My mom is photographing her first wedding next weekend, so if you are needing a photographer you should check her out because she takes all of my pics. 🙂

All About Baby Mathis

Well, most of you have already heard our EXCITING news!! Baby Mathis should make his/her appearance around the end of July (maybe the middle due to me being high-risk).

We found out this news the Monday after Thanksgiving and by that point I was almost 6 weeks pregnant. We decided to wait to tell family at Christmas to make it special and to where all the family found out about the same time.

We made our families a special DVD that we told them was full of pictures from our two years of marriage. (We had just celebrated our 2nd anniversary the week before..so we went with that.) The DVD was actually a movie trailer Tim put together of pictures and video and at the end there was a picture of the pregnancy test. 🙂

Tim’s family was the first to find out because we visited them first. They were all surprised and didn’t see it coming. Tim’s mom saw it first and woke everyone up in the house to tell them the news. We were so glad to start telling people because we were about to burst with the news. Tim is the reason we waited until after Thanksgiving to take the test because he said if we were pregnant he would tell everyone at Thanksgiving; therefore, we waited. 🙂

On Christmas Eve night we got to my family’s house and gave my parents the DVD to watch with the same story. I think they were truly caught off guard because they thought we were announcing where we were moving to after May. It was a great Christmas to say the least!!

Also, at this point I am 9 weeks pregnant and we made them promise to not put anything on social media or tell people who might pass the news around before we were ready. We wanted to make it to the 12 week mark and have an ultrasound before posting it on Facebook/Twitter/Instagram.

We knew it was a lot to ask and some people who we consider close friends found out before posting it on social media, but that is because we knew they would be praying for me and the baby. We are still asking for people to keep me and Baby Mathis in your prayers as I am high-risk because of my blood pressure and heart condition. I am praying against having to be on bed rest at any point, especially during my internship.

So, we have obviously made it past the 12 week mark and ultrasound because this is now public knowledge. 🙂

I am now going to answer some questions that we have been asked a lot so far:

Have you been sick? Boy, have I! I started feeling nauseous around week 7 and started getting sick while we were in NYC for our anniversary trip. Ever since then it has been pretty much every morning and every night with some sickness thrown in randomly in the middle of the day/afternoon. And I have tried every home remedy that everyone has told me and nothing has worked. The doctor gave me medicine and it doesn’t work every time.

Have you thought of names? Yes we have them picked out and ready to go just as soon as find out the gender of this sweet life. 🙂 If it is a girl her name will be EmmaLee-Tyler Jean Mathis and we will call her EmmaLee-Tyler. If it is a boy his name will be Charles Allen Mathis and we will call him Cam by his initials.

Where do these names come from? I have always liked the name Emily but I wanted it to be spelled like my name because I am names after some special people. The “Lee” in my name comes from my great-grandmother Allie Lee Boatwright. “Tyler” comes from Tim’s brother and we like it for a girl’s name. “Jean” comes from my grandmother, Marian Jean Boatwright, and she was extremely special in my life.

The boy name comes from two of the most important men in my life. “Charles” is from Charles Boatwright, who is the greatest grandfather in this world! And “Allen” comes from Craig Allen Hayles, who is the best dad in this world!

Have you had any cravings? Up until yesterday I would have said no to this question, but I saw Nesquik Strawberry powder last night and HAD to have it along with cucumbers. So for dinner last night I had a cup of strawberry milk and a cucumber! And that hit the spot like no other!! 🙂 And it wasn’t just last night that I started wanting these things..I noticed earlier this week when I saw some students drinking strawberry milk at lunch…I asked them if they thought it was good and they said yes and I almost went back to the lunchroom to get me some but decided not to. Ha!

“Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD,
the fruit of the womb a reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior
are the children of one’s youth.
Blessed is the man
who fills his quiver with them!
He shall not be put to shame
when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.”

Christmas Break Traveling and Reflection of Undergrad

Classes are over. Projects are turned in. Finally! (At least for me they are.) Tim is still working hard on papers to turn in by the end of next week and then he will be done.

Life is slowed down a lot for the both of us in the past few days and it has been really nice. I have really enjoyed this whole being a “housewife” this week. 🙂 I love staying busy at home cooking and cleaning and doing things with and for others. Although this week has been very chill, next week will start the month of traveling for the Mathii!

I leave on Tuesday to go to Livingston for a week to keep the Hooper kids. Their parents will be on an anniversary trip and we are very close to this family. The Hoopers are the most servant-hearted and giving people we have EVER met!! They came into my life freshman year of college when they had just had their second child. The first time I kept Mae and Archie was for Melissa’s (the mom)  birthday. From that day until I got married I was in their sweet home weekly visiting, eating dinner, or keeping their 3 kids. They are now making preparations to be full-time missionaries in Honduras. Their move will take place in the next few months.

Tim will join me later in the week when he is finished with classes. Then, we will come back to Auburn for 1 day to wash clothes and re-pack to leave for NYC!! This is our gift in return for taking care of the Hooper family. It is an all-expense paid trip that we have been totally blessed with for our 2nd anniversary!! We will be able to party it up for 5 days in NYC! We are SO excited about this vacay and just being able to explore the city with no required agenda.

When we arrive back in Auburn from that trip we will then start making our family rounds for Christmas!! We will go to Tim’s mom’s side first, then my family, go to Abbeville for Tim to preach, and finally to Black to be with Tim’s dad and step-mom.

As soon as we get back from there my internship will start up!! I cannot believe that is all I have left before graduation. You would think 6 years of undergrad wouldn’t have flown by so fast…haha! But at the same time it has drug by as many different events and things have changed and grown me during my college experience….such as: moving, college classes, nursing school, having a tumor removed from my throat, serving in Vancouver for a summer, changing my major, courtship, engagement, MARRIAGE, moving, transferring schools twice, being a part of a cohort, and serving in many schools! Major things have happened to me in 6 years. I have grown so much as a person and in my walk with the Lord. I am so thankful for all the people I have made friends with over my time in college and at the schools I have attended.

Anyways, I will end there. We have a busy month to say the least, but we are excited about that and the new year to come. With the new year comes new experiences and new goals to meet. 🙂

New Year, New Schedules

We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and new year with your family and friends. We enjoyed our time together with our families over the the holiday season. We went to Black, AL, where Tim’s dad’s side of the family meets every summer for family reunions, for a few days of being alone together. From there we went to Eufaula, AL to spend time with Tim’s mom’s side of the family for a few days. We had our Christmas celebration with them and got to spend some sweet time with our wonderful niece, Alexis. 🙂

From Eufaula we went to spend Christmas Eve night in Goodway, AL. This was the first time I(MaeLee) have been home for Christmas in 3 years. Needless to say, my parents were thrilled to have me and Tim there for Christmas Eve and Christmas day. We spent a few days there and got to spend the night and hang out with my Paw-Paw. You guys do not even know how much we love my Paw-Paw. He is always the highlight of our trips to see my family, especially since we lost my Gran-Gran last March. We also got to see some more of our favorite people, the Dunns and Butlers, while in Goodway, which means we got to see our other favorite little girl, Lenora! 🙂

We came back to Auburn for a few days of rest before hitting the road again. We celebrated in the New Year with some more of our favorite people, the Taylors! It was a night full of games and laughter! We left New Year’s Day for Louisville, KY with the Wimberlys. Kaleb and Tim took a Greek review class for free while Lindsay and I slept in at the hotel and hung out around Louisville. We were able to meet with some of the Wimberlys’ friends and have dinner with one of Tim’s professors and his family. I was so excited to go see Louisville and SBTS, where Tim is a student. We (mainly just me) enjoyed the cold weather to the fullest. We were all really hoping for snow, but it had melted by the time we arrived. (Such a Debbie Downer!) Other than getting stuck in traffic for a couple of hours on the way there, a good time was had by all of us!

Since our return from Kentucky, we both hit the ground running with responsibilities for work and school. Tim has been at Lakeview every day since we go back with some type of responsibility. We have had Week of Prayer, David Platt, Harry Reeder, and many other things happening at Lakeview. This past weekend we were leaders for FUEL! Fuel is a weekend for the youth to grow deeper in their relationships with the Lord and have an overload of fellowship with each other. Tim had 8th grade boys and I had 9th grade girls. It was definitely a weekend of renewal and exhaustion! We are both so thankful for opportunities to work with youth and use our gifts for the Lord in that manner since we both have a desire to work with them after graduation.

I am placed at three different schools this semester for my education program and I am SO excited about it! Reading, math, and P.E. for me this semester and all of these subjects require me to come up with my own lesson plans. Making lesson plans for the first time is a rather frightening thought to me, but I am up for the challenge!

So, this is our little update on the Mathii. Hope you have a great rest of the week and weekend! Love you guys!

Half-Way Freedom.

So, I (MaeLee) am officially done with school for this semester! PRAISE THE LORD! I did not think this semester would ever come to an end. So, I am FREE!

Tim, on the other hand, is not done for the semester. He leaves for a J-term on Sunday and will return later in the week. He will be taking Herman-neutics in Louisville, KY. He also has two or three more finals on top of taking a week-long class.

My Daddy has the privilege of putting up the Christmas tree every year at the state capital. (Yes, this is a very big deal to my dad.) Today is the Christmas tree lighting and parade in Montgomery. So, we are meeting my parents in Montgomery for the parade and dinner and they will be coming to Auburn to spend the weekend with us.

I have a few pictures to share with you guys from over the time that I was not blogging as often.

This is us at a pumpkin patch in Eufaula, AL in October. 🙂

This is my side of the family minus Tim and my brother Trey at my Paw-Paw’s 83rd birthday party.

This is my Paw-Paw and all of his granddaughters and two great-granddaughters. 🙂

This is me and our precious niece, Alexis at Thanksgiving! She is so much fun and has so much joy!

This picture is the most recent and has to be included just because it is so beautiful. (You should check out the rest of downtown Auburn at night if you want to see something truly magical and beautiful.) 🙂

We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and hope you are preparing your hearts for one of favorite times of the year, Christmas! Please remember the reason we celebrate Christmas and how amazing it is to know that God sent His Son to come and live a perfect life for an example for us to follow. Jesus Christ also took on all of our sins to to die and be
